Story
Now open the full 10 days!
Throughout the year 48 volunteers worked over 3800 hours collecting, sorting, pricing and packing donated materials. Another 86 volunteers helped out during the sale, covering 234 shifts and putting in a total of 854 hours. Once again, the Confederation Mall allowed the sale to use vacant space throughout the year as a work/store room, free of charge.
Posters were used for the first time in the Silent Auction. There were posters describing seven items, and seven more items were physically displayed on the Silent Auction table. As had happened in the past, a valuable book was stolen from the silent auction display. So it was decided from this point on that all auction items will be photographed and shown with a written description — eBay style.

Marcia C became the sale’s publicity coordinator, joining the other three members of the management committee. She worked with the Symphony’s publicity director during the year. It was believed that the improved publicity was responsible for the remarkable increase in the total monies generated by the sale.
The dates for the 2003 sale were set to avoid conflicts with other mall promotions. The administration and merchants are eager that the sale continue to be held in the mall. One merchant said that the Book & Music Sale was “better than Christmas”.
