Story
Expanded sale space for books and recorded music
Once again, mall administration donated space throughout the year as a work/store room, free of charge, as was use of the sale spaces. This year the sale was allowed to use almost the whole of the centre concourse, while the store used for recorded music was larger than the ones used previously. This expanded space required extra shelving units to be built.
Throughout the year 58 volunteers collected, sorted, priced and packed donated materials; shifts during the sale were covered by 123 people, for well over 5200 total volunteer hours.
The increase in revenue was likely due to four factors:
- The extra sale space which allowed the display of more stock.
- The good weather which made the experience more pleasant for customers (as well as volunteers).
- The increase in advertising over previous years.
- The quality of stock, which several of our regular customers, especially the dealers, commented on.
The dates for the 2006 sale were set for 27 April - 6 May, the later time to avoid Easter in mid April and symphony concert dates. Unfortunately, it will coincide with the Music Festival.
